The 2026 NFL schedule is set, and none of your game dates are moving. Your custom merchandise deadlines are another story — most of them are closing in the next few weeks. If you’re planning stadium giveaways, watch-party kits, or season-ticket member gifts for a season that opens September 9, here’s the game-by-game planner: what fans actually keep, and the latest date you can order it.
1. The Deadline Math That Decides Everything
Before the game-by-game plan, one number matters more than any other: 10–12 weeks. That’s roughly how long a typical custom order takes when it travels by sea from an Asian factory to a U.S. venue:
- Artwork confirmation: 2–5 days
- Production: 2–4 weeks for simple items (rally flags, towels, wristbands, drawstring bags); 5–8 weeks for complex ones (embroidered caps, puffy blankets, drinkware, multi-item gift boxes)
- QC and packing: 3–7 days
- Sea freight: 4–6 weeks (air freight: 5–10 days; express courier: 3–5 days)
The golden rule: build your plan backward from the arrival date you need, not the game date. “Arrive by October 1” is a much better brief than “game is October 4.”
One thing worth knowing: we run in-house printing lines that can produce more than 50,000 printed items a day — capacity has never been our bottleneck. The bottleneck is almost always the calendar. So every product in this planner is chosen for two reasons: fans actually keep it, and a factory can actually deliver it in the window.
2. Week 1 (Wednesday, September 9) — You Are Officially in the Rush Window
The season opens with a Super Bowl LX rematch: the defending champion Seattle Seahawks host the New England Patriots at Lumen Field — the league’s first Wednesday opener since 2012. For your promo plan, this means one thing: if you haven’t ordered yet, every day counts.
What can still make Week 1:
- Hand rally flags
- Rally towels
- Wristbands and captain armbands
- Drawstring bags
- Mini banners and pennant flags
These items have no molds, simple decoration, and high production capacity. Ordered this week, they can still fly in time for kickoff.
To move fast: send vector artwork (AI, EPS, or PDF) with Pantone colors on day one, and give your supplier the arrival date, not the game date.
3. September — Lock In Thanksgiving and Christmas (the Last Sea-Freight Window)
September is the busiest procurement month of the NFL season, because it’s the last realistic sea-freight window for the holiday slate.
Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26): Bears at Lions, Eagles at Cowboys, and Chiefs at Bills in primetime.
Christmas Eve (Thursday, December 24): Texans at Eagles.
Christmas Day tripleheader (Friday, December 25): Packers at Bears, Bills at Broncos, and Rams at Seahawks.
These are watch-party moments as much as stadium moments — fans gather at home, at bars, and at tailgates. That makes them ideal for:
- Knitted beanies and winter caps
- Scarves and neck gaiters
- Throw blankets
- Can koozies and bottle coolers
- Holiday stockings and Santa hats
- Custom tote bags for gifting
Deadlines: place sea-freight orders by mid-to-late September for late-November arrival, and by early October for Christmas arrival. After that, you’re paying for air.

4. October — Playoff Commitments and the Last Super Bowl Sea Window
The playoffs start in January, and Super Bowl LXI is February 14 at SoFi Stadium. October is when serious playoff buyers commit, because it’s the last month you can put playoff inventory on the water.
Popular October commitments:
- Playoff rally towel sets (one per round, or a “run” series)
- Hand rally flags in team colors
- Season-ticket member fan gift boxes
- Puffy blankets and pillows for cold-weather markets
- Caps and beanies with playoff branding
- Drinkware sets for watch parties
If your team’s playoff picture is uncertain, plan for flexibility: neutral packaging, generic “postseason” wording, or a two-version print strategy (within your licensing terms) so you’re ready either way.
5. November — Thanksgiving Cluster and International Games
By November, Thanksgiving orders should already be in production. The Lions, Cowboys, and Chiefs–Bills primetime game form the biggest giveaway cluster of the regular season — don’t try to start it now.
Two international games matter for brands activating overseas: Bengals vs. Falcons in Madrid (November 8) and Patriots vs. Lions in Munich (November 15). International events add customs steps and longer transit, so those orders needed to move even earlier.
After Thanksgiving, sea freight is no longer realistic for any remaining 2026 dates. November is also the month to confirm Super Bowl orders with your factory — air-freighted inventory ordered now can still arrive comfortably.
6. December — The Holiday Slate and the Air-Freight Zone
December is the home stretch: the Christmas Eve game, the Christmas Day tripleheader, and the final regular-season weeks that decide the playoff bracket.
For buyers, December is the air-freight zone. Freight costs are higher and capacity is tighter, so book space early and confirm receiving windows with your venue or fulfillment center.
What still works in December:
- Express-delivered small orders (5,000–20,000 units)
- Watch-party kits: koozies, towels, flags, snack sets
- Holiday-branded items that double as gifts
- Championship-adjacent products for teams that have already clinched (again, within your licensing terms)
7. January — Playoffs: Speed Is Everything
Wild-card weekend kicks off in January, followed by the divisional round and the conference championships. By now, every order is a rush order.
For playoff speed, choose products your supplier can produce in volume from in-stock materials:
- Rally towels — the stadium classic
- Wristbands
- Temporary tattoo sleeves for fan face-and-arm decor
Two practical tips: ask about material stock before you choose a product (in-stock fabric is weeks faster than a material order), and approve the digital proof within 24 hours. Every day of approval delay is a day of production lost.
8. Super Bowl LXI (February 14, 2027) — The Valentine’s Day Finale
Super Bowl LXI at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood will be the first Super Bowl ever played on Valentine’s Day — which makes it the single biggest watch-party moment in NFL history. Even teams that don’t reach the game benefit from the weekend.
Popular late-cycle items:
- Viewing-party kits (towel + koozie + flag bundles)
- Themed koozies and bottle coolers
- Puffy blankets for couch season
- Custom hats and beanies for the big day
For winners and hosts, ask about the “postgame ready” workflow: pre-planned championship designs, printed after the game, can be delivered within days when artwork and materials were pre-approved. Set that up before the game, not after.
9. The Season at a Glance
| Milestone | Date | Sea-freight deadline | Rush lane | Fans keep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Season opener | Wed, Sep 9 | Passed — air only | Air / express | Rally flags, towels, wristbands, caps |
| Thanksgiving games | Thu, Nov 26 | Mid-to-late Sep | Air until late Oct | Beanies, scarves, blankets, koozies |
| Christmas games | Fri, Dec 25 | Early Oct | Air until mid-Dec | Stockings, Santa hats, holiday bundles |
| Playoffs | Jan 2027 | Oct | Air through January | Rally towels, wristbands, fan gift boxes |
| Super Bowl LXI | Sun, Feb 14 | Late Nov – early Dec | Air until late Jan | Watch-party kits, koozies, puffy blankets |
10. The 60-Second Ordering Checklist
- Send vector artwork (AI, EPS, or PDF) with Pantone colors — on day one.
- State the exact quantity and pack-out instructions.
- Provide the delivery address and receiving hours.
- Give the arrival date, not the game date.
- Choose products made from in-stock materials for tight windows.
- Split the order: first batch by air for the event, the rest by sea for later use.
- Approve the digital proof within 24 hours.
The Bottom Line
The schedule is locked, and your game dates aren’t moving. But the ordering windows for the 2026-27 season are moving right now — the Thanksgiving and Christmas sea-freight deadlines are within the next few weeks.
Send your artwork, quantities, and arrival dates to a supplier that has been inside more than 1,000 games and 85 sports teams. We’ll build the plan backward from your date and tell you exactly what’s realistic — before you spend money on the wrong timeline.
